About the Earl Grey

Earl Grey is black tea flavoured with oil of bergamot, a citrus fruit, which gives its perfumed aroma. The UK Tea & Infusions Association suggests 3–4 minutes' brewing, with or without milk; many people prefer it with a slice of lemon.

Background

Traditionally it was a blend of black China teas treated with bergamot oil. The UK Tea & Infusions Association says it is said to have originally been blended for the second Earl Grey.
