About the Aviation

Crème de violette gives the Aviation its pale lilac tint and floral note, while maraschino adds a dry cherry-almond character. Go easy on the violette: a single barspoon is enough.

Background

Some recipes omit the crème de violette; it is served straight up in a cocktail glass.
